Triple DES Legacy Decryption Compatibility

Decrypt controlled historical Triple DES fixtures for migration. Creating new Triple DES ciphertext remains disabled.

Decryption-only migration path

This page does not create new Triple DES ciphertext. It is limited to controlled historical decryption so data can be validated and moved to an authenticated modern format.

Current standards status

NIST withdrew SP 800-67 Rev. 2 on January 1, 2024 and disallowed TDEA for applying new cryptographic protection, while allowing processing of already protected data for legacy use. See the NIST withdrawal notice.

Usage boundaries and result checks

Triple DES Legacy Decryption Compatibility is for this task: Decrypt controlled historical Triple DES fixtures; creating new ciphertext is disabled. It runs in the browser; start with a short, non-sensitive sample and confirm the behavior before processing more data.

Best use

Use it for a focused Triple DES Legacy Decryption Compatibility task when a quick browser workbench is appropriate.

Input

text, an encoded string, or the data format named by the tool

Output

an encoded, decoded, or compatibility-check result

Before reuse

For Triple DES Legacy Decryption Compatibility: Confirm the character set, byte boundary, and target protocol. Encoding is not encryption. See the test method.
