Best use
Use it for a focused SHA-1 / SHA-256 / SHA-512 Digest Tool task when a quick browser workbench is appropriate.
Generate deterministic SHA-1, SHA-256, and SHA-512 hexadecimal digests with Web Crypto for checksums and compatibility tests.
The same UTF-8 input produces the same digest. A one-character change produces a different value. A digest does not encrypt the input and cannot prove who created it unless it is used inside an authenticated construction.
The workbench hashes UTF-8 bytes and returns lowercase hexadecimal output. Preserve line endings, normalization, and trailing spaces when comparing with another implementation; visually identical text can have different byte sequences.
SHA-1 / SHA-256 / SHA-512 Digest Tool is for this task: Generate deterministic SHA hexadecimal digests with Web Crypto for checksums and compatibility tests. It runs in the browser; start with a short, non-sensitive sample and confirm the behavior before processing more data.

For SHA-1 / SHA-256 / SHA-512 Digest Tool: A digest is not encryption. Use an appropriate modern construction for passwords, authenticity, or signatures. See the test method.
