Native2ASCII-style Unicode Converter

Create UTF-16 \uXXXX escapes for Java properties and older native2ascii-compatible workflows, then decode them back to text.

Java properties compatibility

This page emits one \uXXXX escape for each non-ASCII UTF-16 code unit. That matches the style used by older Java properties and native2ascii workflows. Supplementary characters such as emoji therefore become a surrogate pair rather than a JavaScript \u{...} code-point escape.

When not to use it

Modern UTF-8 properties files often do not need this transformation. Use it only when the target build, runtime, or historical file format explicitly expects escaped Java-style properties content.

Usage boundaries and result checks

Native2ASCII-style Unicode Converter is for this task: Create UTF-16 \uXXXX escapes for Java properties and older native2ascii workflows. It runs in the browser; start with a short, non-sensitive sample and confirm the behavior before processing more data.

Best use

Use it for a focused Native2ASCII-style Unicode Converter task when a quick browser workbench is appropriate.

Input

text, an encoded string, or the data format named by the tool

Output

an encoded, decoded, or compatibility-check result

Before reuse

For Native2ASCII-style Unicode Converter: Confirm the character set, byte boundary, and target protocol. Encoding is not encryption. See the test method.
